The Science of Live Rosin Concentrates
Why is everyone talking about solventless? We break down how live rosin is made and why it preserves the truest essence of the plant.
Live rosin is the gold standard of solventless cannabis concentrates. Unlike distillate or wax — which use butane, propane, or CO₂ to strip cannabinoids out of the plant — live rosin is pressed using nothing but heat and pressure. The result is an extract that captures the full chemical fingerprint of the original flower, terpenes and all.
The process starts with fresh-frozen flower harvested at peak ripeness. The frozen plant material is gently agitated in ice water, which knocks the trichome heads (where the cannabinoids and terpenes live) off the plant. Those trichomes are filtered through fine micron screens, dried into hash, and finally pressed between heated plates. What flows out is a thick, glistening sap.
Because no solvents are ever used, nothing has to be purged out at the end. Every aromatic compound that was in the living plant is still in your jar. That is why live rosin tastes so loud — strawberry, diesel, gas, citrus, whatever the strain is known for, it comes through with a clarity you cannot get from solvent-based extracts.
